Gluten-free Christmas cooking questions
Is ham gluten-free?
Plain ham usually is, but glaze packets and some pre-glazed or seasoned hams can contain wheat or soy sauce. Read the label, and on meat products ask the maker if it just says “starch” or “dextrin”, which can come from any grain.
Are sausages gluten-free?
Not always. Many sausages use breadcrumbs or wheat rusk as a filler, so buy ones labeled gluten-free for pigs in a blanket and stuffing.
Can I make Yorkshire pudding gluten-free?
Yes. A gluten-free flour blend with eggs and milk rises well in very hot fat. Scrub the tin first, because baked-on batter can hold gluten.
How do I plan Christmas dinner for several diets?
Add everyone you’re cooking for to the Gluten app with their allergies and diets. It checks each dish for each person and tells you what to change on one plate instead of cooking a second dinner.
