Kids’ plate: Turkey patties

On the plate: Plain thyme turkey patty with soft acorn squash and carrot rounds.

Make it a game: Make a sunny plate with squash wedges and carrot rounds around the turkey patty. Pick a different shape to try whenever you like.

Set it aside at step 4, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Autoimmune protocol (AIP): Turkey, acorn squash, carrots, olive oil, thyme and garlic; no grains, legumes or nightshades.
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: No gluten-containing grains, soy, seaweed or kelp; turkey and vegetables use simple herbs.
  • Pregnant: Turkey patties are roasted, with no raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic ingredients.
  • Toddler (1–3): Soft squash and carrots accompany a small turkey patty broken into soft pieces.
  • Kid (4–12): A plain turkey patty and sweet roasted squash make a familiar, hands-on plate.

AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
