Kids’ plate: Rainbow rice bowl

On the plate: Plain rice, beef strips, carrots and spinach, and a firm fried egg cut into strips, sauce left off.

Make it a game: Find every colour of the rainbow in the bowl before the first bite.

Set it aside at step 3, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Celiac disease: Gluten-free tamari and gluten-free gochujang carry all the Korean flavour here.

Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
