Kids’ plate: Sweet potato boats

On the plate: Half a sweet potato topped with soft beans and grated cheddar, steamed corn on the side.

Make it a game: Sail the sweet potato boat across the plate before it docks at your mouth.

Set it aside at step 3, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Sweet potatoes, beans and spinach with garlic and paprika — no soy or gluten here.
  • Gluten-free: Naturally gluten-free: sweet potatoes, butter beans, spinach, corn and cheddar.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Beans and vegetables over olive-oil roasted sweet potato, with only a little cheese.
  • Kid (4–12): Sweet and mild, and the potato splits open like a boat to fill.
  • Toddler (1–3): Everything mashes soft — potato, beans and spinach — with just a light sprinkle of salt.
