Kids’ plate: Duck Strips and Golden Coin Boats

On the plate: Plain duck strips, soft roasted plantain coins and kale leaves torn small, the cranberry sauce in a little bowl for dipping.

Make it a game: Line the plantain coins up like boats and sail a duck strip into the dip.

Set it aside at step 6, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Autoimmune protocol (AIP): No grains, dairy, eggs, nightshades or coconut: plantain stands in for potatoes and olive oil does the roasting.
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Gluten-free and soy-free, seasoned with rosemary, garlic and citrus zest instead of sauces.
  • Pregnant: Nothing in it is raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic; the sauce is cranberries, maple and zest.
  • Toddler (1–3): Soft mashed plantain and mild duck she can pick up in small pieces.
  • Kid (4–12): Duck strips and a dipping sauce, with mild flavours and gentle greens.

AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
