Kids’ plate: Turkey strips and squash mash dip boats
On the plate: Turkey strips, smooth squash mash and a little apple sauce for dipping, avocado slices on the side.
Make it a game: Dip a turkey strip like a boat sailing into sauce sea, then steer it ashore for a mash landing.
Set it aside at step 6, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.
Why it works
- Autoimmune protocol (AIP): Turkey, squash, apple and sage with no grains, dairy, seeds or coconut; olive oil in the pan.
- Hashimoto's thyroiditis: No gluten, soy or seaweed here: turkey and squash seasoned simply with sage, garlic and a little maple.
- Pregnant: Nothing raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic: fresh turkey, roasted squash and a cooked apple sauce.
- Toddler (1–3): Soft mash to scoop with fingers and mild turkey strips cut small for small hands.
- Kid (4–12): Mild, dippable turkey strips with sweet squash mash — a build-your-own-bite plate.
AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
