Kids’ plate: Duck slices with turnip mash and carrot coins

On the plate: Plain sliced duck, creamy turnip mash and soft roasted carrot coins, glaze on the side for grown-ups.

Make it a game: Stack the duck slices like coins and dip each one in mash before the big bite.

Set it aside at step 5, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Autoimmune protocol (AIP): No grains, dairy, eggs, nightshades or seed spices: olive oil, herbs and a honey-cider glaze carry the flavour.
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Strictly gluten-free with no soy or seaweed — the glaze is cider, honey and vinegar, not a bottled sauce.
  • Pregnant: No raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic ingredients anywhere: the glaze is fresh apple cider simmered down, not wine.
  • Toddler (1–3): Turnip mash and soft carrot coins are easy to eat, and the kids' share is seasoned before any glaze.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild duck strips and mash to dip; the glaze is sweet and goes on gently.

AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
