Kids’ plate: Meatball stackers
On the plate: Plain pork meatballs, soft carrot coins and broccoli florets.
Make it a game: Stack meatballs into a wobbly tower and see how tall it stands before the first bite topples it.
Set it aside at step 6, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.
Why it works
- Autoimmune protocol (AIP): No grains, dairy, eggs or nightshades: grated apple keeps the meatballs juicy and sweet.
- Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Gluten-free and soy-free: seasoned with fresh sage and scallion greens instead of soy sauce.
- Pregnant: Nothing raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic here; the pork cooks through in the pan.
- Toddler (1–3): Soft carrot coins and small, mild meatballs that little hands can pick up.
- Kid (4–12): Mild sage-and-apple meatballs with broccoli florets that roast crisp but stay sweet.
AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
