Kids’ plate: Turkey Patty Bites

On the plate: Plain turkey patties with soft roasted acorn squash and carrot, set aside before adding the herbs and garlic.

Make it a game: Make a tiny garden with squash wedges and carrot batons around the turkey patties. Pick a favorite garden path for each bite.

Set it aside at step 4, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Autoimmune protocol (AIP): Turkey, olive oil, squash, carrots, sage, thyme and garlic; no grains, legumes, dairy, coconut or nightshades.
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: No gluten-containing grains, soy, seaweed or kelp; the patties use fresh herbs and garlic.
  • Pregnant: Turkey patties are cooked to 165°F; no unpasteurised ingredients or alcohol.
  • Toddler (1–3): Soft roasted squash and carrots with turkey broken into small, manageable pieces.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild turkey patties and sweet roasted vegetables make a simple, familiar dinner.

AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
