Kids’ plate: Pork and Sweet Potato Stew
On the plate: Tender pork, soft sweet potato and finely sliced kale from the pot.
Make it a game: Find the sweet potato cubes hiding beside the pork. The kale ribbons can be little green roads across the bowl.
Set it aside at step 5, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.
Why it works
- Autoimmune protocol (AIP): Pork, sweet potato, kale, ginger, garlic and olive oil; no grains, legumes or nightshades.
- Hashimoto's thyroiditis: No soy, seaweed or gluten-containing grains in this simple pot braise.
- Pregnant: Nothing in the braise is raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic.
- Toddler (1–3): Soft sweet potato, finely sliced kale and tender pork shreds suit a small spoon and fork.
- Kid (4–12): Mild, tender pork with familiar sweet potato in a one-pot meal.
AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
