Kids’ plate: Dip-It Chicken with Wedges

On the plate: Plain chicken in strips, sweet potato wedges and a soft wedge of roasted fennel, lemon squeezed on before serving.

Make it a game: Line the wedges up like little boats and dip the chicken strip in for a swim.

Set it aside at step 4, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Autoimmune protocol (AIP): No grains, dairy, eggs or nightshades: chicken, fennel and sweet potato with oregano and lemon.
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Gluten-free and soy-free: a one-pan roast seasoned only with herbs, garlic and lemon.
  • Pregnant: Nothing in it is raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic.
  • Toddler (1–3): Sweet wedges and soft roasted fennel that cook tender for little hands.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild herbs and lemon only, with strips for dipping.

AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
