Kids’ plate: Beef and broccoli rice bowls
On the plate: Plain beef strips, soft broccoli florets and rice, no sauce left on; a little sauce in a small bowl for dipping.
Make it a game: Build a rice mountain and hide the beef under broccoli trees, then dig for treasure with the spoon.
Set it aside at step 5, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.
Why it works
- Celiac disease: Tamari and oyster sauce are gluten-free, and cornstarch thickens the sauce instead of flour.
- Kid (4–12): Mild glossy sauce with sweet rice on the side, and strips easy to pick up and dip.
Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
