Kids’ plate: Creamy chicken soup

On the plate: Mild coconut chicken soup with tender chicken pieces, no mushrooms or chili; cilantro left off.

Make it a game: Hunt for the chicken pieces hiding in the creamy soup like little fish in a pond.

Set it aside at step 4, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Celiac disease: Naturally noodle-free and thickened by coconut milk; the fish sauce and stock are gluten-free.

Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
