Kids’ plate: Chicken and rice bowls

On the plate: Plain garlicky chicken over soft rice, a little sauce spooned on, lime left off.

Make it a game: Build a little rice mountain and hide the chicken inside — can they find it all?

Set it aside at step 6, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Celiac disease: Tamari and fish sauce give the salty-savoury base, with rice instead of noodles.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild, saucy chicken over rice — spoonable, familiar and not spicy.

Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
