Kids’ plate: Chicken noodle twirlers

On the plate: Plain chicken strips, soft rice noodles and a few carrot matchsticks, sauce tossed in lightly.

Make it a game: Twirl the noodles around the fork to wind up the longest noodle rope on the plate.

Set it aside at step 4, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Celiac disease: Rice noodles stand in for wheat noodles, and the sauce is gluten-free tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild, slightly sweet tamari sauce with noodles, chicken and crunchy vegetables to pick up.

Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
