Kids’ plate: Chicken strip katsu dippers

On the plate: Crispy chicken strips, fluffy rice, cucumber-thin cabbage and a little katsu sauce for dipping.

Make it a game: Dip-tester championship: each strip gets a dip rating, then the sauce cup becomes a tiny soup for the rice.

Set it aside at step 5, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Celiac disease: Cornstarch and gluten-free panko make the crunch, and the sauce uses gluten-free tamari.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild crispy chicken with rice and a sweet dipping sauce kids can spoon themselves.

Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
