Kids’ plate: Steamy mac and cheese bowls

On the plate: Plain gluten-free mac and cheese in a small bowl, no chili on it.

Make it a game: See who can find the longest noodle in the bowl and slurp it like a happy dragon.

Set it aside at step 5, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Celiac disease: Gluten-free macaroni and a flour-blend roux keep the cheese sauce velvety.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild, cheesy and spoon-friendly; the plain kids' bowls come out before any chili.

Celiac check: watch for hidden gluten in soy sauce, stock, malt vinegar and seasoning blends, and oats that aren’t certified. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
