Kids’ plate: Shrimp Bites with Sweet Potato Mash

On the plate: Chopped shrimp, smooth sweet potato mash and soft broccoli florets, lemon left off.

Make it a game: Dip the shrimp into the mash — moon landings on a fluffy orange moon.

Set it aside at step 5, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Autoimmune protocol (AIP): Shrimp, sweet potato and broccoli with olive oil and lemon — no grains, dairy or nightshades.
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Naturally gluten-free with no soy in sight; seasoning is garlic, lemon and salt.
  • Pregnant: Nothing raw, unpasteurised or alcoholic; low-mercury shrimp cooked fresh.
  • Toddler (1–3): Smooth mash and soft broccoli with tiny shrimp pieces to pick up.
  • Kid (4–12): Dippable mash and mild shrimp bites, with lemon left off his share.

AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
