Kids’ plate: Salmon tacos
On the plate: Flaked salmon, warm cassava tortillas, plain cabbage and avocado slices.
Make it a game: Build a little taco boat and choose what goes aboard first. The avocado makes a creamy island beside the salmon.
Set it aside at step 3, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.
Why it works
- Autoimmune protocol (AIP): Salmon, cabbage, avocado, cassava tortillas and olive oils keep grains, legumes, dairy and nightshades out.
- Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Cassava tortillas and olive oils keep gluten and soy out; there is no seaweed.
- Pregnant: Salmon is a low-mercury fish, and the tacos contain no alcohol or unpasteurised foods.
- Toddler (1–3): Soft salmon flakes, finely shredded cabbage and small avocado pieces make a simple taco filling.
- Kid (4–12): Mild salmon, warm tortillas and familiar avocado make easy tacos to build.
AIP check: watch for nightshade spices (paprika, chili, cayenne), seed spices (cumin, coriander seed), seed oils and hidden sugar. Gluten gives food ideas, not medical advice: always check labels for allergens and cross-contact.
