Kids’ plate: Fish Taco Boats

On the plate: Plain flaked cod, warm corn tortillas, and finely shredded cabbage-carrot slaw.

Make it a game: Make little taco boats and give each one a fish-flake passenger. Add slaw wherever it fits, at your own pace.

Set it aside at step 3, before the grown-ups’ sauce or spice goes on.

Why it works

  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis: Cod, cabbage, carrot, cilantro, and corn tortillas; no soy, seaweed, or kelp.
  • Low-histamine: Freshly cooked cod with cabbage, carrot, cilantro, and ginger; no citrus or fermented foods.
  • Gluten-free: Certified gluten-free corn tortillas and no wheat, barley, or rye ingredients.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Cod, cabbage, carrot, cilantro, and olive oil make up the tacos.
  • Pregnant: Cod is a low-mercury fish, and nothing in the dish is raw, unpasteurised, or alcoholic.
  • Toddler (1–3): Finely grated, softened cabbage and carrot with small flakes of cod.
  • Kid (4–12): Mild cod tacos with familiar tortillas and slaw served on the side.
